Amitabh Brar (Amit) has over ten years’ experience in the design, oversight and execution of microfinance. During his career Amit has been involved in funding and monitoring of microfinance; market research, due diligence and capacity building; and direct management and special situations.
From 2010 to 2013, Amit served as Investment Director for Grassroots’ partner in India, Caspian Impact Investment Adviser (managers of India Financial Inclusion Fund and Bellwether Microfinance Fund). In this role, Amit conducted due diligence and market research for a South East Asia-focused microfinance fund; and led workouts and other investor interventions in two portfolio companies in India.
Amit also worked as a consultant for Shorebank International (now Enclude) and was the Director of Operations of MISFA – an investment fund in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Prior to that, Amit worked at EDA Rural Systems on the Social Ratings Team. Amit started his microfinance career as a Research Assistant at CGAP, Washington DC. Amit is a CFA Charterholder, and holds M.S. in Finance from London Business School.
